About Me

I’m Dr Samantha Andrews - a writer and researcher specialising in turning complex information into clear, accessible narratives that support better decisions.

I have a very particular set of skills: a blend of research, evidence synthesis, and communication expertise that allows me to translate complex ideas into clear, accessible narratives. My background spans ecology, government roles, private-sector work, and more than a decade of experience in science communication. This combination allows me to understand both the scientific and organisational realities behind a project, and to translate them into writing that is rigorous, engaging, and grounded in evidence.

Alongside my independent consultancy, I am also the founder of Ocean Oculus - an ocean-focused communications studio supporting science and sustainability initiatives. Through this work, I’ve led communications for larger-scale projects and collaborated closely with researchers, policy teams, and global programmes.

Today, I support organisations across the environment, sustainability, resilience, innovation, and research sectors. My work includes evidence synthesis, literature reviews, white papers, research support, and editorial writing across a wide range of topics. Whatever the project, my goal is the same: clarity, insight, and communication that helps people understand the world - and act within it.
